Thank you for your suggestion, but this solution would not work in my
case because the computer in question is owned by my company, and
although I am authorized to use the computer for personal study
purposes in my spare time, I am not authorized to install a new
operating system on a spare partition.  There are no spare partitions
currently available, and I have no virtual partitioning software on
hand.  Even if I could use such software, usage may be problematic if
any new partition were detected by the IT department.
