BTW: Oz is a research project and not a commercial product. You are most welcome to contribute to the development of the language or its IDE (e.g. to write a Eclipse plugin).
As for Eclipse plugin development, I have found an interesting (at least for me) FAQ at http://www.awprofessional.com/articles/article.asp?p=370625&seqNum=17&rl=1
Not that I do not like emacs (or vi), but I think that it is a pain for newcomers... especially those with Java background would greatly appreciate Eclipse integration. The key functions that I think the IDE would need are syntax highlighting, indentation and build.
I understand that the emacs-based OPI brings some good things, but since the debugger support is poor/broken, I don't see any special features that I would miss if the above plugin was available. I think that Eclipse integration that supports just the key features described above would be great for everyone and yet quite easy to develop.
