As for Eclipse plugin development, I have found an interesting (at least
for me) FAQ at

Not that I do not like emacs (or vi), but I think that it is a pain for
newcomers... especially those with Java background would greatly
appreciate Eclipse integration. The key functions that I think the IDE
would need are syntax highlighting, indentation and build.

I understand that the emacs-based OPI brings some good things, but since
the debugger support is poor/broken, I don't see any special features
that I would miss if the above plugin was available. I think that
Eclipse integration that supports just the key features described above
would be great for everyone and yet quite easy to develop.
