Newbie questions

I want to integrate NSS into Mozilla, which should be easy enough, but I am 
missing something.  Are there some basic instructions (e.g. How to get SSL 
in Mozilla) somewhere?  The NSS build instructions at mozilla.org do not 
work for me.  The compile fails.  Plus, those instructions seem to be 
geared toward compiling NSS without Mozilla, which I'm sure is a nice 
feature, but I'd like to get it to work *with* Mozilla.  I'm lost...

Some basic guidance, please?
