How to Sign Messages?!!?

I have a cert from thawte installed, everything looks great.

HOW DO I SIGN MY EMAIL????

on netscape 4.7 there was a lock to click on in the message compose window.

I can't find any icon, menu selection, tab, or anything that allows me 
to sign an email

My cert is installed fine!!
