S/MIME (Digital ID) support in mozilla?

Hello all.

I'm trying to move from WIN9x to Linux and I'm having a bit of a problem
with my S/MIME email setup. I installed RedHat Linux with all the defaults.

The first thing I did was to setup Netscape Messenger Version 4.76
with my work (email) account information, I imported my digital ID with no
problem and I could send and receive (signed and encrypted) email with no
problem.

The problem comes in when I wanted to add my personal (email) account,
Messenger didnot support this (multiple in/out accounts with a different
digital ID).

Then I Found out (by exploring) that Mozilla can manage multiple accounts
the way that I wanted.
I was able to import my S/MIME digital IDs (work and personal) in to the
certificate store of mozilla, and created the diffent options for both my
accounts. But I was unable to find the the options for "signing" and
"encryption".

How can I send signed (or encrypted) S/MIME emails without these buttons
(or the "padlock icon")?
I mean I RTFM, went to the help section, went to the mozilla.org site and,
it clearly states that Mozilla supports S/MIME.

Sending Signed and Encrypted
Messages

In a Composition window, click the padlock icon.
The Security Info window displays information
about whether you can encrypt or digitally sign this
message. Follow the instructions for getting a
recipient's certificate or checking the option to
send yours.

What I need help on:
1. Where are the "signing" and "encryption" S/MIME buttons (or the
"padlock icon") of the mail mozilla composer window?.
2. How can I make it work?
3. Do need to download something?

What I don't need:
People telling me to forget S/MIME and use PGP.
Don't get me wrong, I love PGP but both accounts have emails already
encrypted to S/MIME., and it is VERY hard to get people to use PGP after
they have been using S/MIME.

Thank you in advanced for your help and support.
