I don't know what could have caused your problem with verifyAuthSafes. 
If you can reproduce it, please tell me how. I don't see any code in JSS 
that mentions expired passwords (I grepped for the the word "expired".)

I think JSS 3.2 will only work with NSS 3.4.2. There are new functions 
in NSS 3.4.2 that are used by JSS 3.2.
