I manage a small server that uses certificates to let users-server smtp/pop3
communication to be secure. I'm wondering what version of ssl draft is
currently supported by Mozilla, because, due to some reasons, I want to make
a single certificate for all domains my server supports. There was some
romour with wildcarts and alternative Common Names used in SSL certificates
in most popular browsers and I don't know what is supported by now.
Current versions of the mozilla browser (and its kin, thunderbird and firefox)
support both wildcards and Subject Alternative Names. SubjectAltName support
is fairly new, and older products (such as Netscape branded browsers) do
not support it with SSL, as I recall. Wildcard support has been present in
all Netscape and mozilla branded browsers for at least 8 years.
