Did you consider the Enigmail list? This question and its answer(s) may be
found in the Enigmail list archives. IIRC, it came up again in July or
August of this year.

No, Check out the Enigmail source for an idea of the ad-hackery to get
Enigmail to do its job with mailnews/Thunderbird. Doing it with
navigator/Firefow would be quite a degree messier.

There is already a group of users who would welcome such an extension.
Even more so if the extension is general enough to work with Mozilla,
Netscape & FireFox.
