Does anyone have any experience with Filtered Replication?

I understand it is possible with a CIR, to filter the attributes and/or
entries that are replicated in a CIR by placing an ACI restriction on
the replication user.

This works for the initial sync, but after that, attributes that I
restrict via ACI are still replicated. It appears as if the replication
user only reads the changelog to perform the replcation. I tried
denying access to the changes attribute in the changelog, only to have
the consumer core dump shortly after startup.

>From what limited information I have found, this is referred to as
Sparse, Partial and Fractional Replication.

Other third party documentation refers to this as a feature of iPlanet
DS that sets it apart from NDS and Active Directory (among other things
:-))

iPlanet documentations states that CIRs are stored as an directory entry
on the consumer, I'm not sure where this entry is located, there is
limited information in the base = "" entry. I had hoped that If I
located the entry, I could look at the allowed attributes and possibly
determine how to manually configure if it was just the Console GUI that
fell short of implementing this, rather than the directory server
itself.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
