How do you use the XPCOM Wrapper for C SDK

I am tring to add LDAP functionality to a Chrome. Initially all I'd like to do
is connect to an LDAP server and read and write some "bookmarks.html" data.  
Does anyone have any information on how to use the components in 
mozilla/directory/xpcom/base
I think that I can do an LDAP connect but I need to then do a search.
