Unless I'm mistaken,. this is a problem with PerLDAP v1.4 and Perl5.6.
There are two solutions, the best one is to upgrade to PerLDAP v1.4.1. The
other is to pollute the Perl name space as indicated in previous posts. You
can do that when building PerLDAP, i.e. you don't have to rebuild Perl
itself.
