        If you need NDS support, one to consider is Novell's DirXML.   Between 
NDS's native support for so many platforms (Netware, Nt, Win2K, Solaris, 
Linux, Tru64, AIX someday soon) and DirXML's ability to act as a 
metadirectory product to anything else you can think of (or 
NDS-Authentication Services that adds a bunch more platform support) you 
should be able to do what you like.
