LDAP: modifying default attribute name

hi,

I'd like to share my addressbook (with LDAP) between some applications, 
so I'd like to use more generic attribute name of my own instead of
mozillaNickname, mozillaHomePostalAddress2, mozillaHomePostalCode, etc ....
how can i change this default behaviour without recompiling mozilla?

other question, how mozilla ldap manage more than 2 email address? 
(there are only mail and mozillaSecondEmail (which doesn't work for me; 
Moz 1.0))
