We are starting a new project that will include a country wide deployment of iPlanet web and directory servers on Sun hardware. At least the potential exists that we will go that far, we are prototyping it now to a smaller regional audience. The problem I have is we need to design the Directory Services to scale to a country wide, replicated, secure, highly available and (possibly) load balanced environment.
We have a reasonable understanding of LDAP in a small replicated environment. What we need to do is lay the groundwork in terms of directory hierarchy and schema. What I could really use at this time is someone with experience in a large scale LDAP (preferably iPlanet) deployment that I can bounce some questions off of. If anyone out there has this sort of experience and would not mind some email exchanges (or perhaps a brief meeting in S.F. bay area) we would appreciate it. I will summarize main points covered back to the newsgroups. I have a somewhat detailed list of issues, I think an initial non-newsgroup discussion will be better.
