I have a very large (and busy) LDAP directory (about 1.5 to 2 million entries, and id2entry.db2 is about 1.9 GB in size) running under Netscape Directory Server 3.1 on SunOS 5.7. The server has been very reliable and stays up consistently...except when I try to delete records. Some records will delete just fine, but quite often a delete on another record will cause the CPU usage on the ns-slapd process to spike, and then the server will crash. So I've avoided deletes (one reason why it's so big now), but now need to consider trimming it down. I haven't been able to find out why some deletes crash the server and others don't (the logs don't indicate anything). Has anybody encountered this before? Are there ways to discover why the server crashes on a delete?
