to create a profile for a new user ?
This is possible in recent nightlies - Tools -> Switch Profile -> Manage

2.) You can't use Mozilla's profile manager to make profiles
without "salting" - which is a pain in the ass when you
trying to support Mozilla on a LAN.
Just create an empty prefs.js in for folder first. Voil�!
3.) Backup tools are needed - any novice user should be able to
easily backup his mail or his entire profile.
Perhaps you could add this in to the existing profile manager?
