It sounds like a good idea. Is something holding you back?
Perhaps it would help if you provide much more detail about the kind of thing you want to do.
Or perhaps it would help if you ask some direct questions.
Have clear, concise directions without a lot of tech asides; directions that go from point A to point B, C, etc.
Explanations of the items in the Menus in TB to begin with would be very nice.
I frequent the Firefox (actually says Firebird) and Thunderbird newsgroups and get most of my questions answered there. Most people new to programs such as FF and TB do not know how to access a newsgroup, nor do they know how to use one. Accessing the secnews server is a process in and of itself: SSL, which port, etc. Many of the same questions are asked over and over.
I was lucky enough to find this link to the kb upgrade. Anyone new to the program would be hard pressed to find it.

Thunderbird is far behind Firefox in its documentation. It’s such a nice mail/news program that I would like for it to be up there with FF. It reminds me of the mail/news program that was in Netscape Communicator 4.7x and that was my very favorite of the Netscape series.
What I would like to do is to write clear, concise instructions and submit them somewhere for approval. I, of course, would need to write out an outline and plan the project and find out what is already addressed. I am semi retired now and have time to pursue a project such as this. Finding out what has already been done would be very helpful. I don’t plan to rewrite the entire Help and would like to find out what needs to be addressed the most urgently and start from there.
