. . . sigh . . . > The only preference now is to use Mozilla 1.3 final or later > simply looking at source and then closing inserts <br> each > time you do it in Netscape 7.x
I've given up and am still using the Netscape 4.7 editor because all the other editors I've tried, including, now, Mozilla 1.3, do so many things that I don't want and that make my life more difficult. Extra <br>s are the least of it. Is there no way to customize the composer to stop using excessively elaborate code (<span and <font style strings, for instance, instead of simple <b> or <i>), to stop changing ~ to %7E, "fixing" links for me when I damn well don't want them fixed, etc., etc.? These things, surely, should be under the user's control. I'd pay a substantial amount for a wysiwyg editor that just produced basic text markup. I'm less than crazy about NS 4.7, and I'm going to lose it anyway because our IT folks won't keep it on the system, since it's been rendered useless as a browser. -- Russ St. Thomas University http://www.StThomasU.ca/~hunt/
