Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I'm all for security! I think it's odd that people
can use Control-X for Cut, for example, but not a button on my toolbar,
especially when new users are far more likely to understand the button than
the key combination. However, I do understand that the key combinations are
within Midas' control, and so are 'safe', while my toolbar operations are
not.
BUT! I'm a bit annoyed that it works on the Midas demo on mozilla.org, but
doesn't work if you download that demo code and run it locally. (Try it -
just download the files locally and try to run them from there. The
clipboard operations give me the same security error. I'd love confirmation
of this or reason to believe it was something wrong locally.)
The only reason I can see for it to work when fetched from mozilla.org and
not work when fetched from somewhere else is that there's code that trusts
mozilla.org more than, say, file://. And if that's the case, well, it makes
it a bit dumb to put up a Midas demo on mozilla.org. Unless the purpose of
the demo is to show us "This is what you can't do on your site."
Cheers,
Geoff
