I use front page now and I've written a front page macro that creates a
table of contents. As an option, I can tell it to add numerbing to the
actual elements (<h1>, <h2>, etc). When this option is enabled, a
section number is prepended to each heading where <h1> is prepended with
1.x, <h2> is prepended with 1.x.x and so on. This may actually be an
independent feature like "Create Section Numbering".
I am not very fond of adding the numbering in the markup but since
that's the only way to make sure that all existing browsers show a
numbering, why not.
