Just on a related note, does anyone know of any efforts to support xhtml
in the mozilla editor/composer? A timeline would be great but I
understand that due to the nature of opensource that is not always possible.

Hi,
When I create a new page in composer, it is html 4.01 transitional.
Can I tell composer to use strict? Or use xhtml 1.1?
Or does composer only support 4.01 transitional?
I've been backwards and forwards thru settings and searched this
newsgroup...
TIA
PS. Is there support for editing CSS (I didn't see it)?

Best is to use Nvu 0.4.1 which has a built-in CSS editor.
