AFAIK, what I want to do has not been suggested before.
Ads you may or may not be aware, there is a file manager for Enlightenment
called EFM. It is IMO excellent. Very pretty, but also very usable. I have
been thinking about the possibility of embedding gecko in EFM. My objective
is to produce a light weight browsing component for EFM. I want it to handle
all the bells and whistles as far as browsing goes(but gecko should handle
that nicely)
Im also interested in exploring the possibility of using Imlib 2 to do
Gecko's image handling. This would add an extra layer of complexity and
might not be feasible. However my basic idea I believe should be fairly
simple to implement. I would appreciate any feedback as to the complexity of
doing this.
