Netscape 4.x and IE 4.x and up are able to do that, why shouldn't
Mozilla?
There are plugins that need low-level stuff from the OS and it is
next to impossible to limit the access to only the non-malicious
low-level commands.
Netscape 4.x plugins have no security to stop evil programmers from
doing harm,
IE's ActiveX has a very lame one, and I'n not yet sure of Mozilla's
security.
(I guess there is some security, because it crashes when I try to
implement
the low-level stuff I need...)
Bruce Schneier has all the right to dislike both ActiveX and Plug-in's
in his book 'Secrets & Lies', and you relly should be very careful with
unknown plugins. But sometimes plugins are the best solution.
(Is flash the best solution for people having too much bandwidth?)
