docShell.loadStream doesn't work.

Hi,

using mozilla1.3 the call editor.docShell.loadStream 
(mInputStream,newFileURI,"text/plain",0,null);
gives me an error "loadStream is not a function" but 
http://www.xulplanet.com/references/xpcomref/nsIDocShell.html indicates 
that it should work.
Does anybody have a hint?
