Profile Manager in winEmbed

I am trying to run the winEmbed sample for the first time. I'm not using 
any commandline parameters. It fails trying to get the profile manager:

aContractID="@mozilla.org/profile/manager;1"
Running WinXP, VC7, linking to Multithreaded Debug crt and debug-enabled 
Mozilla Firebird 0.7 release distro.
