My goal is to embed using Gecko and I have read many of the pages on mozilla.org and have had no luck getting anything to compile yet.
I have downloaded gecko-sdk-i586-pc-msvc-1.7rc2.zip along with the 1.7rc2 mozilla sources. I have cygwin and the moztools installed.

Try changing the linefeed from LF (Unix) to CR/LF (Dos/Windows). You can do that in syn editor or ultraedit.
