I got round this problem by passing in the GRE dir when i called NS_InitEmbedding..

I know you find out the GRE dir form looking through the registry but i've just hard coded it for now.
GRE_Startup() takes care of all this - searching the registry and such. Afaik you can use GRE_GetXPCOMPath() to get the XPCOM path (see GRE_Startup source at http://lxr.mozilla.org/mozilla1.7/source/xpcom/glue/standalone/nsXPCOMGlue.cpp#456 ). I know I can do it the way you do, but I'd like to do it in a "clean, official" way ;)
