Hello everyone,
I am trying to trace down some documentation (anywhere), regaring
the default prefix that Netscape (and the other browser) puts in front
of the "location" for a file accessed on a local computer or on a local
network (i.e. not via internet access, no "http://" or "ftp://", etc.).
When I open Netscape Navigator and choose "File|Open Page...", I can
navigate around on my local computer and network, pick, choose and open
.htm and .html files.
When I do this, Netscape automatically displays the following in the
location (example only):
file:///C|/sample/test.htm
I am looking for a fairly simple and straight forward explanation on
why "file:///" is used, is it a Windows network protocol or HTTP
protocol or what.
