Does your mozilla not have the "desktop integration" preferences?

*Before* removing mozilla open the preferences dialog and go to the "Desktop
Integration" tab under the "Advanced" category. Unselect all the checkboxes
-- each one represents a registry entry more or less -- and hit OK. *now*
you can delete the files as above.
