You should remember that the *display* and the *content* of a message
may not agree -- i.e. even though you are looking at excerpt bars, that
doesn't mean that HTML is being sent.
For instance this message from you was sent in plain/text (w/f=f) and
will show the HTML style lines if you were to reply to your own
message, but I (using a non-f=f aware newsreader) would see the ">" and
not some unreadable html junk.
