Hello all,
I am porting an application to RedHat 6.2 linux from solaris. In both
situations we are using motif. On linux the version is from the
openmotif-2.1.30-2_ICS.i386.rpm.
My problem is that modal dialogues (i.e. dialogues which when popped
up do not allow other dialogues to be displayed or written to until
they have been satisfied or dismissed) are not accepting keyboard
input. However, the modal dialogues can be dismissed and a carriage
return
will terminate their existance.
Can anyone else heard of this problem or could someone point me to
FAQs or other documentation which might deal shed some light on
this behaviour? The modal dialogues do work correctly on solaris
2.5 with Motif 1.2.[3-4].
There has been some conjecture that:
Motif sometimes relies on the Host Window Manager
to make sure the keyboard/mouse focus is correctly set. Raw X11 has a
very
simple view of the world for focus, and it possible the Motif
application
layer needs to use X Window Manager events to make sure things happen
properly. On Solaris the WM is usually CDE, which is really just mwm
(Motif Window Manager).
Are there any thoughts on it being a problem with the window manager?
Which by the way is whatever KDE defaults to.
Thanks
Jonathan
