I was attempting to reply to a post cross-posted to four
newsgroups on Usenet and obtained a message from Mozilla
saying I could only post to one newsgroup at a time. I
noticed in the ground rules at
http://www.mozilla.org/community.html
that one should only post to one newsgroup at a time and
expect that this ground rule has been coded into Mozilla.
So I replied to the cross-posted message in my usual
newsgroup and have received no response from the prior
poster who very likely should have responded if he had
seen my post. It is likely he is looking at a newsgroup
different than mine in the cross-post list. And so the
result is that people from two different newsgroups are
not having a useful discussion that would otherwise take
place without this restriction. My impression is that
this restriction for Usenet newsgroups is excessive.
