Hello,
well it's the first message I write to the list....
I hope my suggestions make you do a better browser... you've done it so
well with 0.9.1!!
Well here they are:
1) CSS: I've seen that the browser makes some mistakes in representing
CSS, here there is an example:
DIV.RESALTADO {
font-weight:bold;
text-align:center;
background:transparent;
text-decoration:blink;
color:red;
}
(used in http://www.upv.es/asele/3congresodcha.html)
According to the w3c.org page (CSS Validator), the CSS is correct, but
the text appears left-aligned, black color, and doesn't show the blinking.
2) Tables: I think it's very strict with the sintax of the tables, and
some pages with a "little incorrect" sintax (that appears ok in other
browsers like Netscape 4.XX and IE ), doesn't appears propperly in Mozilla.
I think it should use the width in the TD tags, because when represents
a page with a complex structure, the table makes something shifts from
left to right and something like that.
Another problem that I've detected with mozilla it's that it makes a
"transparent" line in some coloured tables, and the sintax of the table
is correct. When I say transparent I mean that the colour is the same of
the background. If you want I can send you an example of this. (I think
in 0.8 worked properly.. but I'm not sure)
3) Images: The only problem I've found is that when a page contains some
images as links and you press in one of them (and the page is not
completely loaded), the aspect of the page changes in a "radical" way.
You've fixed this in part with 0.9.1, but I think you should continue
improving this part. I suggest that you make a "transparent" box with
the size of the image (if it's on the html-code) or get it from the image.
4) JavaScript: Well, here you have some pages where the code doesn't
work properly:
www.iberia.es (if you select the calendar and you want to choose the
day, you can't se anything in it)
www.jump.es (well this page doesn't work properly in Netscape... but
you can see here the efect of the images that I suggested in 3)
- The javascript console you've done it's PERFECT! and helps you develop
a javacript programme.
Well ... I hope my suggestions helps you.
I've found the following Problems in 0.9.1 (that doesn't exist in
previous versions).
- Mail: the presentation-menu (well I don't know how you call this...),
that appears when you click on a mail account doen't appear in 0.9.1,
what I have to do is to go to the Inbox folder and return to the mail
account.
- Java Cosole: when I try to access at it, the browser gets blocked. My
system too.. I have to kill mozilla to get it working again. I use
RedHat 7.1.
(I've seen some problems with jre installation in linux in other
messages-> to work propperly you should be root when you install the jre)
- I love the new look of the browser, another suggestion is that "Get
all new messages" work propperly and allows me to get the messages for
all my accounts. I've noticed that to get new messages is slower in
0.9.1 (I think... maybe I'm wrong)
- More suggestions at mail: when you are inside a mail account and you
are reading a mail that has been sent to a list of people, and you want
to write one person, you can click on the mail direction and it appears
a compose mail window, but the From direction (if you have more than one
accounts) appoints to the first account and I think it should appoint to
the account where the message is inside.
One example is from mailing lists, and someone sends a message about one
theme, and you want to answer the message so that it arrives directly to
the mailing list (but not directly to the person who has sent it), when
you click Reply, it goes to the person who has sent it. You have the
choice to use "reply all", but my suggestion goes to when you want to
answer only to the mailing list. You can click at the "To" (compose mail
to..), and a Compose mail window appears, my suggestion is that the From
for that compose window be the account where you have received the message.
I hope you understand me... :-)
Well, that's all... I hope this long message helps you in developing
Mozilla.
Thank you
