OK, you want to use XMMS....
hmmm. Interesting. Works for me. This is my config:
name: audio/mpeg
extension: mp3
mime: audio/mpeg
executes: /usr/bin/xmms
Question, do you have artsd or esd running? If so, make sure XMMS has
the correct output plugin selected...or...change your definition to:
executes: /usr/bin/esddsp xmms
