Here's the chronology of events, and the situation I encountered. It may be that it's totally unrelated to the Mozilla install, but Agent launched perfectly before installing Mozilla clean: I installed Mozilla 2001062218 last night, after trashing my existing installation by attempting to install the Netscape IM xpi (don't try that - it doesn't work). Prior to doing that, as far as I can recall Agent (the newsreader) worked perfectly, as I use it regularly. Tonight, Agent wouldn't launch, and reported an access violation error as below. Application exception occurred: App: (pid=1172) When: 6/24/2001 @ 22:54:17.017 Exception number: c0000005 (access violation) I found that the executable would fire up just fine, as long as the urltype.dat file didn't exist. I tried in vain to isolate exactly what entry it was choking on, but really wasn't able (yet) to come up with any one specific entry. I do know though, that Mozilla was indentified in quite a few of the URL types as the preferred application to launch. I tried removing them, but Agent must re-read said types after it's fired up, and saves them again when closing. Bottom line, I created a bat file to delete urltype.dat before launching Agent, and I can at least use it that way (I rarely if ever use that functionality anyway), but I can't help but wonder if there's some issue/conflict here. Anyone else running Agent 1.8 along with Mozilla that would care to wipe Mozilla, re-install, and see if Agent still starts properly? :) Any ideas anyone?
