installing CVS build?

I have downloaded the mozilla CVS source and built
it on Linux.  I want to install the version I built
so that it is stand alone, independent from the sources.
(without copying the entire source tree over.)
i.e.  I want to play with the build but be free to 
update the sources and build new versions.  A brief
period of looking around on the 'net yielded nothing
on the subject.
