I've been using various mozilla releases at home on Linux and
Win98SE with much success. At work though, I only try it out
every few months. As of v0.9.2 (and possibly some releases
prior), I'm again having trouble with the proxy server we use.
It's MS Proxy, unsure what version right now. In IE, on the
Lan Settings window, I specify "proxy" as the address and to
use port 80. Works fine... It *used* to work fine with mozilla
too... Now it doesn't.
If I enter just "proxy" or "proxy.companyname.com" and port
80, I get an HTTP Error 407 (407 Proxy Authentication Required
You must authenticate with a proxy server before this request
can be serviced. Please log on to your proxy server, and then
try again. Please contact the Web server's administrator if
this problem persists.).
If I enter http://proxy.companyname.com and port 80, I get a
popup error. For example, typing www.yahoo.com in the address
bar generates an "Alert" that says www.yahoo.com could not be
found. Please check the name and try again.
The proxy server does/uses NTLM. mozilla used to "speak" this.
