Can you expand on the symptoms? I might be getting something similar. 
Basically the news is there, but when you ask it to refresh the counts 
(by opening the "triangle" by the server name) it doesn't make any of 
the group names bold. Subsequently clicking on each group that might 
have unread articles displays them correctly.

How did you fix your problem? Remove the file msf?
