Hi all,
I have a friend who for a long time was running Netscape 4.7 on Windows 98.
He tried upgrading to Netscape 6.1 and found that after doing this he no
longer heard a chime when new e-mail arrived, despite having the option for
this checked. He just uninstalled Netscape and tried installing Mozilla
0.9.3 and he's finding the same thing - no matter what we try we can't get
it to chime when he receives incoming e-mail. Now I know that there's no
problem with sound on this machine since other sound effects work fine. I
can also go into the Sounds part of the Control Panel and play all the
sounds that are configured there.
I've pulled down the latest mozilla sources and have been trying to go
through it to figure out exactly what Mozilla uses to determine what sound
to play when new e-mail is received but I'm not having any luck. Can
somebody explain to me how Mozilla chooses the sound to play and possibly
provide suggestions for why it's not working on this one machine?
Thanks!
Bruce
