Go to Help, About Plugins and get the filename of the "Default Plugin".
Shut down Mozilla and delete that file. Next time you go to a page
that asks for a plugin you don't have, you'll be told you don't
have the "Plugin Downloader Plugin". You'll only get this message
once per MIME type for the lifetime of the browser session, which should
be a bit more tolerable. If even that is too much, that dialog box has
an amusingly worded "don't show me this again" checkbox.
