Why do we bother with the endless bug reports about crashing? Why not
solve the problem the way Microsoft does - don't prevent crashes, but
pop up a dialogue apologising for the inconvenience when the
inevitable occurs?

It seems much easier to do, and it seems that you can get away with
it.
