Not to pull a Zawinski [1] or anything, but I'd like to just say thanks to everyone I've worked with on mozilla before moving on to a new job at Sun.
But before I do that, I'd like to summarize the outcome of the OJI Module Ownership discussion from [2]. Mitchell Baker recommended that Joe Chou and Patrick Beard be co-peers of the OJI module, leaving it owner-less until Joe can demonstrate to the community that he's ready to take it over. I'm happy with this arrangement. I'm also happy to report that Joe's manager, Ron Karim, has staffed up the team to more than replace me, hiring three additional team members, two of them well versed in the ways of the Macintosh. I'll leave it up to Ron and Joe to introduce them. Now on to the thanks. My experience with mozilla was the first time I worked full-time on an open source project. I was an open-source believer to begin with, but now I'm also a practitioner. I have seen first hand the costs and benefits of open source and I'll take this experience with me to the next job. I hope this doesn't sound pompous, but I'd just like to give a special thanks to several mozilla folks who really helped me feel at home: leaf, endico, beard, akkana, aruner, peterl, rpotts, and cls. I'm going to keep working on mozilla in my spare time, especially around embedding. Thanks!
