[asbestos suit on]

Ahem. They had the "remedy" overturned, and the judge removed from the
case. The verdict (guilty) still stands. Arguments (legal and
otherwise) continue on what to do about it. Of course, the longer the
arguments go on, the longer MS can carry on as before.

The European Commission is also taking action against Microsoft under EU
competition rules. Their verdict, reported in the press this side of
the pond a few weeks back, was "guilty as hell", with a side order of
"attempting to mislead investigators" (I paraphrase, obviously). Under
current EU Law, that brings the possibility of a rather hefty fine.
I've seen figures of $1-2 Billion mentioned. That would make even
Microsoft's eyes water.

I liked Opera's press release. It'd be even better if Netscape and
Mozilla.org (and anyone else affected) followed suit.
