try a clean install, uninstall netscape 6.1 also.  Try a new clean Win2K 
install, I just did that, and found a bug in Mozilla that I didn't know 
existed till my system was clean.. THat is for Newsgroups will hang 
trying to get a discussion for any group in news.mozilla.org.

Didn't exist before when I kept installing new builds onto my Win2K setup.
