The short answer to the question is "No, not in my experience".

I have been using Moz' with IMAP since 0.9.3 and I must say the recent
builds of 0.9.6 are by far the best releases yet. I have never had
"profile corruption" problems, but if I had 'vital information' that I
didn't care to loose, I would make sure all things Moz' related were
backed up before installing a fresh build.

By far the most important thing to do when installing a fresh build, is
to make sure you UNINSTALL the previous build. This ensures that there
won't be incompatabilities of files/executables. While this can be a
pain, it will give you the best Moz' experience.

Happy Moz'ing
