There's a file you need to copy to your plugins folder *from the fresh version of Java's directory*. The instructions are on the Release Notes page under Known Issues/Java, although you might have missed them because for some reason instructions for both Windows and Linux appear under a Linux subhead. > 5) Then I copied the old contents of the Plugin directory back. > Now Mozilla hangs when accessing a Java page. This could be the result of having parts of two different Java versions trying to work together....not very effective. ;-) > > When reading the material on Mozilla.org it seems that the > plugins just work. How do you folks do it? Sometimes it *does* work first try, evidently. Not for me though, ever. Which brings up the obvious question for the developer folks: Is it possible to automate the copying of this file from the Java folder to the plugin folder as part of the install? I'm not sure if this is done with Netscape 6.x installs...if it doesn't, it should so beginners don't have to monkey with their systems--risky.
