I realised that badtrans is a windows virus that needs Outlook to spread itself - what concerns me is this mechanism of delivering the virus payload (Iframes, attachments and doctored mime-types) and whether Mozilla is vulnerable.
Mozilla automatically opened a save dialog box when I looked at the message - if I had opened the message in Mozilla on a Windows box with the appropriate mime-type handler set up would there be a risk of getting infected with this type the virus? This particular virus would not have been a problem since it was targetted at Outlook users - its a more general point I am making.
