Group,
I have a situation where I am using several Red Hat 7.2 boxes on Windows
2000 network.
These boxes cannot get out through the MS ISA (Internet Security and
Acceleration) server. I have used this same
type of setup with MS Proxy 2.0 and had no problems. Here is the setup:
Network:
Win2k AD based network
DHCP and DNS served from Win2k boxes in AD domain
Standalone server hosting ISA - all internal traffic to 'Net is routed
through ISA
Clients:
2kPro and RH 7.2
Client IP configuration through DHCP
Clients point to internal DNS
Win2k clients have ISA firewall client installed - all Internet access works
as it should
Win2k clients can access Internet without ISA client if browser is pointed
to ISA
RedHat clients successfully get DHCP configuration - nslookup, dig and host
commands all verify that DNS is working properly.
RedHat clients have ISA set as gateway.
Netscape browsers point to ISA.
I can successfully ping to internal and Internet hosts from RH boxes by name
and IP.
Command line FTP works fine from RH boxes.
Problem:
I have tried both Mozzilla and Netscape. I get one of two errors using both
browsers:
http 407 proxy authentication required or
http 400 bad request - data is invalid
The Redhat username and password is allowed access through ISA. Proxy 2.0
would query the user for a username and password if needed. ISA is not
doing this. In ISA server properties, request authentication under both
incoming and outgoing web access is enabled.
I feel that I am missing something basic but I haven't figured it out.
Again, I don't recall having a problem with this same type of setup using
Proxy 2.0. Is there anyway to pass username and password info for a proxy
through Mozilla or Netscape? I have put this information into Nautilus but
it immediately tell me that it can't open any URL. Any ideas?
TIA,
Doug
