When I type in a URL, Netscape Communicator (v4.76) often -- not always -- mangles the address. This has been happening for months, through at least a couple of minor revs; it has just risen far enough above the level of constant minor irritation for me to make the effort to find out how to stop it.
Here is what appears to be happening: 1. As I type in a known URL, at some point Netscape decides to auto complete it for me. This often happens when I pause for a fraction of a second while typing, but sometimes it happens when I'm not conscious of pausing at all. 2. When Netscape auto completes the URL, it selects the entire URL -- not just the part it added. 3. As I continue typing, I replace the entire URL with the part I haven't typed yet. 4. I swear at Netscape, backspace, and start again. I assume this is a known problem -- it's too elementary for me to be the only one affected! What's the solution?
